I got Mockingjay yesterday! Woo! The third part in the Hunger Games trilogy, of which I've read the first two ones. I've read about half of it, so far, and it's starting to get exciting around now.

A few thoughts so far:

  • I miss the Arena, and the Hunger Games themselves. I understand that the author could not do that a third time, but still. I think I might like the two first books more because of it though.
  • I've always been Katniss/Gale, ever since the beginning but I read this post by [livejournal.com profile] penny_lane_42 who liked Katniss/Peeta, and that made me think that I might've jumped to early into it, since she compared it to Buffy/Spike, which is my favorite fictional pairing, like ever. The problem is, I don't like Peeta nearly as much as I like Spike, and I like Gale a lot more. Which is why I can't really 'ship, even though I understand it more. There was also someone who said that Katniss/Gale have too much history right now to work, and I think I agree with that. If Katniss hadn't been chosen for the Games I think they could've worked out, but with all the Peeta drama, from Catching Fire and all, I don't see it. Despite that, I lovelovelove their friendship, and I desperately want them to work that out, and for Gale to find another girl. Johanna Mason maybe, I don't know.
  • I love Finnick. I love him so much more then I did in CF. I also love Boggs, he just seems so nice.
  • I'm scared that Prim is going to die. I heard some people say that something was going to happen to her, and I do believe she will. And it breaks my heart, before it ever happened. Guh.

I also watched the pilot of No Ordinary Family today, since it seemed like a show I'd like.

I was kinda disappointed with it. I'm really bugged that it's the dad, who's a bit bulky and big, who is the strong one (and why, oh why, does every superhero "gang" have to have a character with superstrength? That's like the most boring of superpowers). It would have been soo much cooler if it was the wife, or one of the kids who had superstrength. Seriously, that would've been awesome, and not as cliché. Ugh, the dad character bugged me overall. With the moping, and the fighting crime (okay, I might get over the fighting crime bit, but only if the whole family joins in. Kind of like the Incredibles. Hell, this show is the Incredibles, just not animated, which bugs me a bit too) he's just annoying.

The other characters had much more interesting superpowers, and I totally saw JJ (that was the sons name, right?) having the smart thing. They emphasized on the learning problems and everything. Still, it's pretty cool. I liked the daughter, Daphne was it? Her name bothers me a bit, I only think of Scooby Doo. I also liked the mom, but she reminded me a lot of Claire in Modern Family, probably since Julie Benz and whoever plays Claire is really similar. I'm also used to Julie Benz being Darla in Buffy, and I think I would've preferred another actress.

I think I'll give it one more episode, just to see if it gets better now that we're past the introduction phase. Hopefully it won't be too centered around Jim (the dad) but the whole family, being kick-ass and awesome instead, and might get good.

Also, I bought Season 2 of BtVS on DVD today! Yay! I'm watching it with my dad, but it goes kind of slow, though he likes it so far (even if we're still at Season 1, which is the worst, at least I think so.
